The Land of Snow and Ice

The back yard almost buried in over 2 feet of snow with more coming

Its *that* time of year- when color is leached from the surroundings to be replaced by varying shades of gray and white. A smudge of dark or bluish green here and there from the pines and blue spruce trees. And this is when my motivation factor totally bottoms out. As I posted on face book a couple of days back
'I can't decide if I want a Grand Adventure or to lay in bed all day with a book. Either one is an escape'
Couple that with a goodly dose of seasonal depression and this is my most trying time of the year. I have to force myself to be active - tread mill or get the dogs out- but at the same time resent the time it takes to pull on several layers of clothes, shovel the walk-way to get out and make sure everything's salted so I don't fall and kill myself. And yes- it is normally completely gorgeous and 'clean' once I get out into it but I miss the ease of warm weather- want to go out? Open the door and go. Want to go into the woods- bug spray is all you need for prep. None of this wondering if the trails have been groomed, how soon will it be dark and are the snowmobile riders are going to mow me down at the next dog leg turn. As for the treadmill - it is truly a godsend in the winter for staying active by I get so BORED being stuck in this house.
Today the 'what to do' mouse is running its track in my brain- I could make soap, I could paint, I could put away laundry. I could bake... I would love to GET OUT- go somewhere where there is color and warmth but right now that means a shopping mall an hour's drive way and the roads are not conducive to long distant travel. So more than likely I will put away the laundry because its bugging me and then take the dogs out for a walk.
Tomorrow I can go get some supplies for up coming NOLA orders- would that I could pack myself into one of the boxes and ship myself back there...
