Balancing On The Moving Wheel

Charlevoix Michigan - South Pier Lighthouse on Lake Michigan

Good Wednesday to you-- whoever is reading this! I hope your week thus far has been fruitful and abundant.
We have the usual amount of snow and ice that showed up after a decidedly mild beginning to the winter and I watched with equal parts amusement and compassion at the massive snow storm that dumped several feet of snow on the DelMarVa area of the east coast. Amusement at the wailing and doomsday mentality and compassion because I do understand the inconvenience of trying to work around 3 or 4 feet of heavy white *stuff* that hinders every move you attempt to make. The difference,of course, being that this is their one hoorah (more than likely) while we have many many more weeks of it up here in The North.
That being said, the seasons *are* beginning to move- there is a stirring, a feeling. If you were to visualize the year as a giant wheel then the picture would be of the wheel slowly turning clockwise. In the Pagan paths and religions the next stop of this wheel is called Imbolc and it occurs on the 1st of February and heralds the beginning of Spring.
For me there are personal observances and preparations that go along with this next stop on the seasonal wheel. Aside from that there are definite business stirrings. We are a seasonal resort town here in Lower North West Michigan and this is the time of year when we all begin to poke our heads out of the dark a la The Groundhog and look around for signs of the summer to come. I have begun my summer preparations of correspondences and paperwork to the Powers That Be at the city for this year's concessions stands, there are requests for rental managements for resort rentals and summer construction clients looking to be added to the calendar as well. All local festivals, parades, and events have been penciled in and already my August Calendar is full. And yet the snow falls! Its a bit like having one foot in the future...

St Louis Cathedral original painting by me. Currently available

Some changes from the last few years that are definite; I will regretfully be spending less time on my beloved Mackinac Island due to ownership and management changes at the Bed n Breakfasts I helped out at. Very good for my friends but sad for me .. its the end of an era. I will be vigilant though in scheduling some Island Time for myself so that I stay connected with that most magical location. The next is the addition of an event- I will be a vendor at the very cool Michigan Paranormal Convention to be held this August in Sault St Marie, Michigan. This is a two day event with oodles of 'big names' from that genre. I will be there offering my goods and services from my Persephone's Folly business and am very excited about it! A few of my more relevant paintings may make an appearance there as well but the majority of my art work from Northern Visions will be shown on Bridge St this summer in Charlevoix. I seem to always have one foot in one world and the other in a second LOL!
For now , though, the snow continues to fall and too much planning for the future leaves me frustrated- all kids of running and no arrival. So I try to maintain a balance by attending my Yoga classes 3 times a week, painting my color-filled art and maintaining my New Orleans' contracts and orders.
Happy Wednesday. May you stay balanced as the wheel turns towards Spring <3
