The Myrtles Plantation

Goodness - I had not realized that I never finished this entry from November! So I will do it waaayyy after the fact..

Jack and I visited the famously haunted (and beautiful) Myrtles Plantation in November of 2014 during a month stay in New Orleans.

I'll start with its is much smaller than I imagined and the tour not nearly as involved as other historical plantations due to the fact that it is a working Bed and Breakfast and bedrooms are private. That being said, the public areas are quite beautiful and welcoming.

Allowable photography was VERY limited and the 3 photos posted above are un-edited. We were told that the entrance (where these were taken) was where most people say images in the mirror or on the stairs but that was not the case for us. During Chloe's story I did feel waves of sadness and regret and believe this was residual energy from past visitors reacting to the legend over time. Chloe, herself, probably never existed though I feel her story is important as a moral teaching for what happened to female slaves all too often during this time in our Country's history.

Next we were led into the women's parlor that adjoined the men's -- it was quite pretty and the historical anecdotes interesting but that was about all. Same for the men's section. I'm sorry there are no photos- we were not allowed to take any beyond the entry.

The next room was the game room where I was VERY uncomfortable-  There is a large portrait of a man hanging to the left when you enter the room. The tour guide was saying something about a legend and stories about the portrait as well as the man in it which I heard very little of because of my physical and emotional discomfort. Upon entering I felt an immediate sense of 'leave now' along with an immense pressure at the top of my head and feelings of nausea and chills. This Spirit was very 'manly', did not like or respect women and truly disliked that a woman was tuned into him at all.  I was very very happy to be rid of that room. I will try to remember the name of the man and his story but if anyone reading this knows it feel free to add it to the comments.

The Grounds of the plantation are quite pretty and very 'energetic'--almost a Fae energy to the environment. I caught a glimpse of a young girl in a nightgown type dress sitting with her chin on her knees on the porch roof. I got the feeling that she likes to watch the visitors from there and seemed delighted that I had seen her- most people don't.

And that was it -- for one of the haunted places in the country I have to say I was a little under-whelmed lol. Below are pictures I took of the grounds...

I saw the young girl on this roof, she seems to like to people-watch from this vantage point
