I became bored and needed a boost...

  Being creative on demand as a working artist is tough. Not tough like being on my feet as a waitress tough or entering data into key-stroke-monitored computers for government war machines tough-two jobs I have done and hated- but emotionally taxing tough. For the most part my main contracts are established products that I developed years ago and can make with my eyes closed. Not exactly creative but it can border on dull.
  Yesterday I found myself out of both glue sticks for the glue gun and packing tape. Wow-- that brought my day of production to a complete standstill(kind of scary! Note to self- stock these items to the rafters!).
So, not sure what to do with myself I began wandering some friends and friends-of-friends posts in Google+ and stumbled upon a cool local artist who works in textiles. Inspirational lightening strike!
 I began burrowing through my stash of fabrics, and ribbons and stuff deciding to NOT think too much- to just 'do' and ride the wave of inspiration to see what happens--- I have learned that to remain creative I must 'create'- not regurgitate..
sooooo....

This is what happened!

Over the past 48 hours I designed, cut and created this 24" x 24" panel showing a fall tree in a field with a crescent moon and clouds in the sky. Its made up of about 15 different fabrics, felted wool, ribbons and glitter... I'm pleased with it and think I'll do a lighthouse next.

This piece is called 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' from the poem of the same name by Robert Frost

Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
