Here we are in October - mid October actually. Our last big festival, Apple Fest, has come and gone here and the majority of our seasonal visitors are leaving or have gone. The pace changes and slows a bit-its a welcome change.
Quite frankly, this summer was a tough one to run beach-side concessions. The weather was cold and wet with only a few days -and not in a row- reaching into the 80's. Add that to it being the first year that I was running all three concessions and I can honestly say that I did not have a lot of fun this past summer. I muddled through, though, and made a go of it. That income combined with daily garden duty at Rosecliff, the sale of some large art pieces, and working several parties as hostess or waitstaff allowed for enough money to earn us a month in New Orleans beginning in November.(YAY!)
So these next few weeks are about prepping to leave and tying up loose ends with jobs and orders. As anxious as I am to go I'm quickly approaching the time in trip-planning where it seems easier to stay than to go! There's always so much to do and I tend to get pretty OCD about it all...
If you have been following my blog at all - all 8 or so of you LOL!- you are aware that I had begun a '30 Paintings In 30 Days' challenge. I'm disappointed to say that I gave it up. My paying jobs and orders were backing up and I realized that I had begun this at the worst possible time of the year. I WILL do this but with a few changes; later on in the winter when orders and work slows waaayy down and with a theme so I have some parameters to work from. Lessons Learned...
Those pieces that I did complete- I think there are 10 - will be available for sale on the Northern Visions etsy store HERE next week. I'm pleased with the quality of the pieces that I did complete- I think you all will be as well. To see what is available and what was completed hop on over to the 30 in 30 page at this blog.
