My Summer Bucket List

Summer's up here just fly by-- once day the daffodils are blooming and the next thing ya know the leaves are all red and yellow. And what happened in between? No clue-- its all a warm, sunny blur.

Based on that 'where the hell did my summer go?!' scenario I've decided to do a personal Summer Bucket List. Lets be clear-- this is NOT a list of business  obligations, chores, or getting stuff from the market. Nope. This is the--'what I will do to feed my soul' list. Here goes--

1. Mackinac Island. A day to hike, take pictures, lounge about on the green in front of The Fort and eat good stuff.

2.) Kiteley's Farm Market. My favorite spot to pick berries; strawberries, black berries, raspberries--all berries. Preferably alone. Its quiet and warm and a total Zen moment. Then I make jam; tradition, ya know?

3.) One Morning A Week At The Beach. I live on 3 lakes--one the size of a small ocean-- and I have not been swimming in years. This is unacceptable. Time to go dip my toes and lounge in the sand.

4.) Downtown Traverse City. Shopping with my BF. 'nough said...

5.) The U.P. That's the upper peninsula for you readers 'not from 'round here'. Hiking Tequamanan Falls and paying homage to downed ships and their crews at Whitefish Point.

6.) A day for En Pleine Aire. That's a fancy way of saying 'painting outside'. In French--I love how special things sound in French! Anyway-- I want to gather my easel, paints, and sunblock and paint a scene from my friend's fabulous garden at her home RoseCliff while sitting in the fabulous garden at Rosecliff. Drinking a mimosa and wearing a big floppy brimmed straw hat with a polka-dotted ribbon would be cool too. 'Cept I don't drink. So just the hat...
