Its Tuesday and I think I'll be able to finally get back to the Beach House to work! Typically a-typical Michigan weather kept me away for the last few days. 50 degrees and rain does not a beach dining day make!
Because I was home yesterday with no car (Husband had it in East Jordan to do some painting) I worked on a new painting..
I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with this one! I love to play with color and add it as an emotional element rather than just a visual one. There is almost no natural greenery --aside from container plantings- in the French Quarter. However, to me, the Quarter itself is as alive and vibrant as any garden; each building and alleyway as unique as flowers in a planted bed. I used green to show this; that this building is growing out of its own environment. What do you think?
I'll be back down in NOLA in October for our 20th wedding anniversary; I'm antsy to go! I was there a year ago for the New Orleans Witches Ball but we missed our normal stay in February due to some lousy renters that we had to deal with. If you're a fan of all things Halloweeny and Witchy and Opulent click on that link up there and check out The Witches Ball-- it was absolutely amazing!
We'll leave this year on the 10th and drive down. Flying won't work due to a large box of assorted Voodoo dolls that will need delivery to Erzulies while I'm there and a big baby of a Labrador Retriever that will be traveling with us. Megan is a forever-baby at 12 years old; we can't bear to leave her so she'll come with. It will be a fun drive LOL!
But for now its still summer with a summer schedule so I'll drink a little more coffee, get dressed and head down to the beach to serve great people some great food!
Take Care
Annie
