Yesterday I met a friend for lunch and admired her hand-made Kindle cover--its was unique and fun, made in part from a burlap coffee bean bag! I loved the whimsy and uniqueness of it!
While browsing through inane TV last night I told Jack about it and did an etsy search where I found all kinds of e-reader covers made from vintage hard back books. I told Jack (husband) about the idea because I am (impatiently!) awaiting the arrival of my new Kindle Fire. I was going on and on about designs and ideas and how fun and then he said--
"We have a box of antique Fleur de Lis tin tiles from the salvage guy.. those would be cool--"
Oh wow! I LOVED this idea--of course, throw a fleur de Lis on a pile of dog poo and I will love it, but what really struck me was the combination of old and new-- the newest technology in e-readers and tablets snugged right inside its predeccesor of a vintage hard cover book with an even older antique (the tile is 100+ years old and from a building somewhere in nola) attached for character.

So we cut and snipped, and glued our way to a super cool cover for a Kindle--a true fusion of Old meets New!
I'm completely bummed that I only have 13 tiles left because I would like to offer these on my etsy store.. I also plan on hacking up some seen-better-days Nancy Drew books and maybe a Bobsy Twin or two too!

I love it! I have a Nook but I don't think they are all that different in size. I would probably buy it so for my pocketbook it's good. ;)
