Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

The snow has finally fallen here in the North--up until yesterday we were looking at a 'green' (more gray, really!) Christmas. But the snow fairies arrived and are supposed to frolic in our general area all weekend. While I'm not a big fan of the white stuff its sure pretty :-)

We have decked our halls-- not over board anymore but festive enough. Next year I really hope to get a live tree. While the artificial one is practical enough it doesn't smell good; but its up and sparkly and since it doesn't go out doors to the curb I can use tinsel on it! I know it an ecological no-no but its soooo pretty when the lights hit it and the whole tree just glows !

Most of my family lives out of the area but my Mom will come up from her home downstate to spend a few days with us-I'm looking forward to it. Everyone else is in the more Southern states and will do their own thing, though we did just see my brother and his wife at Thanksgiving. The husband's family is in the area but scattered; we don't see much of them.

So with 2 days until the BIG DAY its now all about the prep; menu decisions and grocery stores, stuff to stuff stockings, scrubbing the house and setting out fresh towels.. I have yet to make one cookie or candy and plan on rectifying that this evening with my special all-butter sugar cookies--frosted in garish and outlandish colors, of course! Pralines and truffles will also be done..
I'm starting to feel IT a bit more.. maybe not as much nor as long as how it used to be, but a twinkle; a twinge of Holiday Spirit has made itself at home in my heart.. I'm glad for its presence.

Merry Christmas, I'm sure your tree is lovely. I can't wait to get a real tree too. I had always heard the needles were a pain, but when I finally had a real tree I thought the pros outweighed the cons.
